Sweet Summer Watermelon Punch with a Kick

1 large seedless watermelon
1 can frozen limeade, 6 ounce
1/3 cup sugar, plus extra for rimming glasses
1 tablespoon lemon juice
2 cups vodka
1 liter chilled club soda
fresh mint leaves and lemon wedges for garnish

Special equipment: one spout purchased at kitchen supply store or local hardware store

Cut off one end of the watermelon so that it can stand upright. Making sure to trim off the green rind only and not the flesh in order to prevent leaking.
Now cut 3 inches off the top of the watermelon and use a spoon to scoop out nearly all the flesh from inside the watermelon, leave some flesh at the bottom to prevent punch from flowing out. To install the spout, cut out a hole 3 inches up from the base of the watermelon. The hole should be slightly smaller in diameter than the spout tube. Insert the spout and fill the empty watermelon with enough water to test for leaks and flow.
For the Punch: In a blender combine the watermelon flesh, limeade, sugar, and lemon juice. Blend to liquefy. Pass the mixture through a fine mesh strainer and into the watermelon keg. Discard the remaining watermelon pulp. Pour in the vodka, club soda and mix thoroughly. Depending on the mood you’re in use a lemon wedge to salt or sugar the rim of a tall glass. Fill with lots of ice and fill with your watermelon punch on tap! Garnish with mint.
