Want bakery style donuts without leaving the comfort of your own home? Frankie will show you how to create the *ultimate* donut holes with an apple-y twist!

Ingredients

1 cup apple cider
1 cinnamon stick
2 cloves
2 allspice berries
3 1/2 cups flour
1/2 teaspoon salt
2 teaspoons baking powder
1 teaspoon baking soda
1/2 teaspoon ground cinnamon
1/4 teaspoon ground ginger
1/4 teaspoon ground cloves
1/8 teaspoon ground nutmeg
1/2 stick butter, softened
3/4 cup sugar
1/4 cup brown sugar
2 eggs
1/2 cup buttermilk
Vegetable oil, for frying
Cinnamon sugar, for rolling

Steps

In a saucepan over medium-high heat, add apple cider, cinnamon stick, cloves and allspice berries. Bring to a simmer to reduce to 1/4 cup.

In a large bowl, combine the flour, salt, baking powder, baking soda, cinnamon, ginger, cloves and nutmeg.

In the bowl of a stand mixer, add butter and sugars and cream together for several minutes. Add eggs one at a time, mixing after each addition. Mix in buttermilk and apple cider, then slowly add dry ingredients and mix until just combined. Do not over mix.

In a deep-sided pan, heat oil to 350 degrees. Pinch off pieces of dough, roll into balls and fry until golden brown.

Remove to a paper towel-lined plate to cool, then toss in cinnamon sugar before serving.
