I can’t even count how many times I’ve gone to Tiso’s, the Italian restaurant in my hometown, and ordered chicken parm. I mean, crispy bread coating, flavorful marinara sauce, and bubbling mozzarella — what’s not to love about this dish? There’s only one way to improve on it, and that’s by making it yourself.

Sarah’s Tip of the Day:
Thin cutlets are the key to getting your chicken parm just right, since the chicken will cook through quickly and evenly. I like to buy chicken breasts, then slice and pound them into cutlets myself — it’s super easy and less expensive. Whenever I make this at home, it disappears!

Recipe Ingredients:
4 boneless, skinless chicken breasts
2 cups store-bought or homemade marinara sauce
6 ounces mozzarella cheese, preferably fresh
3/4 cup plain breadcrumbs
3/4 cup grated Parmesan cheese
2 large eggs
Salt and freshly ground pepper
1/4 cup olive oil
