Fireworks New Year’s Cake from Cookies Cupcakes and Cardio

Learn how to make a New Years cake with buttercream fireworks on top, perfect for your New Year’s Eve party in this video tutorial.

Ingredients:
• 8" round cake, covered in black buttercream
• white buttercream
• coloured buttercreams (e.g. pink, blue, green, yellow etc)
• NYE Squawkers
• 1.5" glitter ribbon
• 2015 candles

Procedure:

1. To make the fireworks, use whatever colour of buttercream you desire, and pipe a large asterisk (starburst) shape.
2. Fill in the empty spaces between the coloured lines of the firework, with shorter white lines.
3. Add small white and coloured dots and dashes around the outside of the firework.
4. To create a two toned firework, use two colours of buttercream before piping the white centre.
5. Cover the cake with as many fireworks as you want to. I was able to fit 4 onto my cake.
6. Attach the squawkers to the side of the cake using a small swipe of buttercream on the mouth piece. Repeat until the side of the cake is covered.
7. Wrap the ribbon around the base of the cake, where the mouth pieces of the squawkers are. Secure with a piece of tape, small pin, or a swab of buttercream.
8. Place the "2015" candles on top, and light them when ready to serve the cake.
