Green Tea Cupcakes (Matcha Cupcakes) by Cookies Cupcakes and Cardio

These green tea cupcakes, topped with lemon buttercream frosting are inspired by the tea flavored desserts that are popular in Japan. Green tea desserts are made with matcha powder, which is a mixture of fine ground green tea leaves.

Green Tea Cupcake Ingredients:
1 1/2 cups all-purpose flour (180g)
1 cup sugar (200g)
1 1/2 tsp. baking powder
1/2 tsp. salt
1 tbsn. matcha powder
1/2 cup unsalted butter (120g), softened, cut into 1-inch cubes
2 large eggs
1/2 cup milk (120mL)
1/2 tsp. vanilla extract
350F/180C, 20-22 minutes

Lemon Buttercream Frosting Ingredients:
1/2 cup butter (120g)
1-2 tbsp lemon zest
3 cups icing sugar (300g)
3 tbsp lemon juice
1-2 tbsp milk
