How to Crack a Coconut | Vijaya Selvaraju

Crack a coconut like a boss with this super easy hack.

Fresh coconuts
Heavy cleaver
Protective glove

1.) Fill a large bowl with water, and place coconut in bowl. Make sure the coconut is covered with water; rotate it so all sides become soaked.
2.) Allow to sit for a minimum of 5 minutes to 30 minutes to allow the shell to become fragile.
3.) There are 3 significant lines on the coconut; these are the breaking points. Wear a glove on your non-dominant hand. This is the hand you will hold the coconut in.
4.) Using the back of the cleaver (the side that is not sharp), hit each line with force, rotate, and repeat until coconut breaks in half. Place a bowl under the coconut prior to cracking to collect any juice.
