{"id":23007,"date":"2017-02-03T16:31:15","date_gmt":"2017-02-03T16:31:15","guid":{"rendered":"https:\/\/lovesharingfood.com\/a-pho-king-brilliant-pho-hack-the-tastemakers-seonkyoung-longest\/"},"modified":"2017-02-03T16:31:15","modified_gmt":"2017-02-03T16:31:15","slug":"a-pho-king-brilliant-pho-hack-the-tastemakers-seonkyoung-longest","status":"publish","type":"post","link":"https:\/\/lovesharingfood.com\/a-pho-king-brilliant-pho-hack-the-tastemakers-seonkyoung-longest\/","title":{"rendered":"A Pho-king Brilliant Pho Hack | The Tastemakers- Seonkyoung Longest"},"content":{"rendered":"<p>[ad_1]<br \/>\n<iframe loading=\"lazy\" width=\"560\" height=\"315\" src=\"https:\/\/www.youtube.com\/embed\/-u8CYIIgGiQ\" frameborder=\"0\" allowfullscreen><\/iframe><br \/>\n[ad_2]<\/p>\n<p>Making pho at home can take pho-ever, unless, of course, you make it in a slow cooker.<\/p>\n<p>Ingredients<\/p>\n<p>1 star anise<br \/>\n1 cinnamon stick<br \/>\n\u00bd tsp black peppercorns<br \/>\n2 medium onions, whole<br \/>\n2 oz ginger, whole<br \/>\n2 boneless, skinless chicken breasts<br \/>\n7 cups chicken stock<br \/>\n\u00bd tsp salt<br \/>\n\u00bd tsp rock sugar or brown sugar<br \/>\n1 Tbsp fish sauce<br \/>\nRice noodles, cooked<br \/>\nTo garnish:<br \/>\n2 green onions, chopped<br \/>\nCilantro, chopped<br \/>\n1\u20132 chilies, such as jalape\u00f1o, Serrano or Thai chili, sliced<br \/>\n1 lime<br \/>\nBean sprouts<br \/>\nThai basil<br \/>\nCulantro (Ngo gai)<br \/>\nHoisin sauce<br \/>\nSriracha<br \/>\nSambal<\/p>\n<p>Steps<\/p>\n<p>1.) Toast star anise, cinnamon and black peppercorns in a dry skillet over medium-high heat to release their aroma, about 2\u20133 minutes. Place in a tea bag and add to slow cooker.<br \/>\n2.) In the same skillet, place the whole onions and ginger and roast them over high heat until they\u2019re blackened outside and oozing their juices, about 10\u201315 minutes.<br \/>\n3.) Remove from heat. Cut ginger into slices and peel onion.<br \/>\n4.) Add onions and ginger to slow cooker, along with chicken breasts, chicken stock, rock sugar, salt and fish sauce. Cover; cook on low for 6 to 8 hours or on high for 3 to 4 hours.<br \/>\n5.) Remove all solid ingredients and discard except chicken. Skim top of soup as needed. Shred or slice chicken and set aside.<br \/>\n6.) Now, let\u2019s assemble pho! In a large serving bowl, place cooked rice noodles. Add chicken pieces, chopped green onion and cilantro. Pour soup, enough to cover noodles.
