RECIPE
DAY 228 – Simple Halloween Cupcake Decoration Ideas
Ingredients:
Cupcakes
White Buttercream Frosting
Green Buttercream Frosting
Orange Buttercream Frosting
Red Hots (or any red round shaped candy, like M&M for example)
Candy Corn
Fine Green Sprinkles
Red Sprinkles
Mixed Sprinkles
Little Pumpkin Sprinkles
Little Pumpkins on Toothpicks
Process:
1) Mummy Cupcake: make eyes and nose on the top of a cupcake with white buttercream frosting (three dots). Stick Red Hots on top of them. Using white buttercream frosting with a flat tip in your piping bag, make random direction stripes all over mummy’s face, covering its nose but not eyes. Once done take a butter knife and clean around the edges a bit so that they’re smoother.
2) “Boo!” Cupcake: frost the whole top of a cupcake evenly with orange buttercream frosting using a butter knife. Using green buttercream frosting and a very fine tip in your piping bag, write “Boo!”. Sprinkle fine green sprinkles around the edges.
3) Spider Web Cupcake: using white buttercream frosting and a round tip in your piping bag, frost the whole top of a cupcake evenly starting from the center and moving towards the edges. Using green buttercream frosting and a very fine tip in your piping bag, put a small dot in the very center of the cupcake and then circle it with circles, the next bigger than the previous one. Take a tooth pick and run it down from the center dot towards the outer edge a few times, creating a spider web.
4) Pumpkin Cupcake: using orange buttercream frosting and a large star tip in your piping bag, pipe stars all over the top of a cupcake. Sprinkle fine green sprinkles all over the top quite heavily, but letting orange to peek through here and there. Stick 3 little pumpkins on toothpicks in the center.
5) Spiky Cupcake: using orange buttercream frosting and a large star tip in your piping bag, pipe stars all over the top of a cupcake. Stick a candy corn (thinner side up) into the center of each star. Sprinkle some red sprinkles all over the top.
6) Sprinkly Cupcake: using orange buttercream frosting and a large star tip in your piping bag and white buttercream frosting and a round tip in your piping bag, pipe alternately a star and a dot all over the top of a cupcake. Sprinkle some mixed sprinkles all over the top.
7) Pumpkin Sprinkles Cupcake: using orange buttercream frosting and a large star tip in your piping bag, frost the whole top of a cupcake starting from the edges and moving towards the center (creating classic rising cupcake frosting shape). Sprinkle little pumpkin sprinkles heavily all over the top, and then just a little bit of fine green sprinkles.
