Peanuts, milk, sugar … what’s not to like? This refreshing drink from Trinidad (and all over the Caribbean) is easy to make, and tastes great. And yes, adding bitters is essential. FULL RECIPE BELOW.

RECIPE

Peanut Punch serves 2
from Trinidad

INGREDIENTS
-2 cups of shelled peanuts
-3 cups of water
-1 cup of whole milk
-6oz of sweetened condensed milk
-Angostura bitters
-1 tsp vanilla extract

TOOLS
Blender
baking pan to toast peanuts
measuring spoons
Fine mesh strainer

METHOD
Toast peanuts in the toaster oven for 5 min at 350 degrees or until you can smell them. Let them cool completely.
Add toasted peanuts to a blender
Add cold water
Add cold milk
Blend on high for about 60 seconds
Strain (either with cheesecloth or a chinois) into a pitcher
Add Condensed Milk, Vanilla, and angostura bitters
Serve immediately in a cold glass
